Eine interessante Neuerscheinung für alle Anhänger des Igels in der Englischen Eröffnung können wir Ihnen diesmal vorstellen.
Der in Rumänien geborene und jetzt in Spanien lebende Großmeister Suba gilt seit Jahren als Experte für dieses moderne System, bei dem Schwarz oft mehr als nur Ausgleich anstrebt.
Das Buch ist auch für alle lesenswert, die mit Weiß endlich den schwarzen Aufbau knacken wollen. Selbstverständlich geht der Autor auch darauf ein, dass ein Igel mit vertauschten Farben möglich ist, wie man ihn in seiner eigenen Turnierpraxis anstrebt oder auch versucht ihn zu vermeiden.
Eine leichte Kost stellt das Buch allerdings nicht dar. Die Kommentierung der hundert Beispielpartien beschränkt sich in den ersten Kapiteln oft auf die für das jeweilige Thema typischen Phasen. Da ein Variantenverzeichnis nicht vorhanden ist, hat der Lernende gewisse Schwierigkeiten, herauszufinden, welche Zugfolgen vom Autor nun empfohlen werden.
Als Nachschlagewerk ist das Buch deshalb sicher nicht vorgesehen. Der fortgeschrittene Vereinsspieler, der schon Erfahrung mit dem Igel gesammelt hat, findet aber viele Anregungen.
Im Hauptteil des Buches "The Modern Hedgehog ! , der die Partien Nr. 60-82 enthält, ist die Kommentierung sehr ausführlich. Gute englische Sprachkenntnisse müssen vorhanden sein.
