Die CD enthält das kommentierte Partienmaterial der Schachinformatoren 89-91, also der Jahre 2003-2004 im weit verbreiteten PGN-Format, kann also u.a. auch ohne Schwierigkeiten im Chessbase-Programm genutzt werden.

Unter den fast 1500 Partien sind viele aus den bedeutendsten Turnieren dieses Zeitraumes, so etwa im Chess Informant (CI) 89 die Turniere von Wijk aan Zee (Kategorie 19), Selfoss 2003 (Kat. 15), Belfort 2003 (Kat. 15), Pamplona 2003 (Kat. 15), Bermuda 2003 (Kat. 16), die Mannschaftseuropameisterschaft in Plovdiv 2003 und die Schnellturniere von Cap D’Agde und Bastia.

Wichtige Ereignisse im Berichtszeitraum des CI 90 waren unter anderem Linares (Kategorie 20), Poikovsky (Kat. 18), Sarajewo (Kat. 15), die großen Open in Moskau und Cappelle la Grande, die Turniere in Reykjavik, Monaco (rapid), Sotschi, Zalaegerszeg, Havanna, Antalya, Sarajevo, St. Petersburg und das Match Bacrot - I. Sokolov.

Und im Band 91 wurden u.a. die WM in Tripolis (Männer) und in Elista (Frauen) sowie der Wettkampf Kramnik-Leko (Brissago), die hochrangioge Turniere von Dortmund (Kat. 18), Biel (Kat. 18) und Sao Paulo (Rapid, Kat. 16), weiter die ukrainische Meisterschaft sowie weitere Wettkämpfe wie Vallejo Pons - Kortschnoi, Anand-Shirov (Mainz, Rapid) oder Zs. Polgar - Karpov (Lindsborg) ausgewertet.

Neben dem reichhaltigen Material hochwertiger Schachpartien ist auch das Chess Informant Expert Programm 6.0 auf der CD zu finden, also keine CIE Lite - Version. Wichtige Funktionen wie das Nachspielen von Partien, auch mit Hilfe von Engines, Kommentieren, Edieren, Clipboard, Erstellen von Bäumen und ECO-Übersichten und Funktionen sind damit möglich, im Regelfall auch die Konvertierung in pgn-Dateien (vgl. Besprechung des CI 92). Zur Bedienung des Programms findet der User im übrigen ein ausführliches Handbuch auf der CD.
