Among professional players, Go Seigen is known for his ability to quickly wrap up a game when he has the lead. Therefore Mr. X visited Go Seigen to seek his advice.
It is noteworthy that Mr. X studied the Application of Joseki (Vol. 1 of Go Seigen's Lectures) under Go Seigen. The study greatly changed his go perception and resulted in Mr. X's winning record in Japan.
Go Seigen said to Mr. X, "The reason why you cannot maintain your lead is that you give your opponent opportunities to recuperate. This is like helping your opponent to get back up on his feet after delivering a knockout punch. Such opportunities can often help the opponent to turn the game around." Go Seigen then picked up some stones and arranged them on the board.
