This book is an attempt to combine an opening monograph with a manual. It presents 253 Sicilian games played by the 13th World Champion Gary Kasparov.
The Sicilian defence, with more than five centuries history, has become one of the most popular openings today. Riches of creative content and ideas stored in this opening make it attractive for many chessplayers. Kasparov included Sicilian in his own opening repertoire when he was a kid. Since that time he has played many games in different lines of this opening which have become chess classics.
The book contains 8 chapters, each of them is divided into 10 sections according to the Yugoslavian "Encyclopedia of Chess Openings" classification, and so for the reader's convenience, each chapter starts from 10 diagrams. All the games are supplied with extendet opening indexes [...].
The games are annotated by outstanding players including Gary Kasparov, Anatoly Karpov, Viswanathan Anand, Vasily Ivanchuk, Jan Timman, Nigel Short, Lajos Portisch and others. This will allow you to get to the heart of the matter of complex Sicilian variations and will help you' to better understand one of the most difficult chess openings.
