Im November 1808 rückte Napoleon mit 160.000 Soldaten in Spanien ein und nahm Besitz von Madrid. Eine von der Kirche unterstützte Rebellion wurde in diesem Krieg niedergeschlagen.

During the reign of Ferdinand VII, in november 1808 Napoleon entered in spain with 160.000 soldiers and he took possession of Madrid. Spanish reaction to violence and abuse of power was armed resistánce headed by General Castelar and General Palafox. The spanish campaing was ruinous and many human lives were sacrified.

The catholic church encouraged the rebellion and for this reason Pius VII was arrested and deported to Savona.
