By writing this book, Attila Schneider, the excellent specialist, who deceased recently, has undertaken not less than to create the full cross-section of one of today´s most liked openings, the Sicilian Defence. He has produced a work converting bath the popular and the rarer variations.

Following the historical overview connected with the formation of the openings, as well as the analysis of each substantial variation, always two sample games are shown, which demonstrate the subtleties inherent in the variations, carefully pointing out the possibilities of both sides. In the first game it is White, and in the second, Black whose strategy prevails.

On account of the voluminous size, the material had to be divided in two tomes.

The present, first, tome ranges from the Sicilian Gambit to the Richter-Rauser Attack, and includes, among others, the Morra Gambit, the various systems of the variation with 2. c3 (known as Alapin Variation), as well as the Rubinstein, the Sveshnikov, the Paulsen, the Sozin, the Benkö, and the Boleslavsky Variations.

Volume Two will also appear shortly, with all of the remaining (Najdrf, Dragon, etc.) Sicilian Variations in it.
