Henri Serruys (b. 1948) started collecting antiquarian chess books 30 years ago. Along with this grew his interest in the history of chess.

In 2003, he co-founded the Ken Whyld Association (now: Chess History and Literature Society). In 2004, he published 'Chess Ex-libris Catalogue'; in 2011, together with Guy Van Habberney: 'Belgian Chess Publications: an annotated bibliography'; and in 2021:'Van Spel tot Duel' (From Game to Duel- chess life in 19th century Belgium).
